While at high school, I had the opportunity to participate in a mentoring scheme which was organised by Leeds Metropolitan University. The scheme allowed me to work with high school students in years 7 – 8, providing support with homework, advice relating to their studies and issues such as bullying.

Bar support – My duties included ensuring the bar area was restocked before opening; the area was kept clean and organised during rush hours. I was also given the responsibility of dealing with customers face-to-face, taking their orders (for meals and drinks) and ensuring the floor/ tables were attended and kept clean.

Warehouse assistant – In this role I had the responsibility of dealing with incoming and outgoing stock, checking deliveries against the invoice and processing orders manually on the internal computerised system. This role allowed me to work as part of a highly motivated team, and learn new skills while conducting general administrative duties including answering calls, processing orders and uploading products onto the Website.
Team Theme: Football coach assistant March 2008- June 2008
This involved teaching primary school children a wide range of skills, techniques and games. Working with children was very rewarding for me as it allowed me to be involved not only in teaching them the skills of the game but also created an opportunity to be involved in providing support and encouragement in an environment where confidence building was at the forefront.

Work experience
During work experience I worked alongside the technicians at City of Leeds School, where I gained valuable knowledge about computers and working within a team. My duties involved building computers, updating programs, and dealing with various problems relating to software, network and hardware. This placement taught me the importance of working well within a team towards a common goal. Working on a problem or task with a team member allowed for tasks to be completed effectively, as well as increasing knowledge sharing.
